GALLERY NIGHT VOL 16

We invite you to wander the creative paths of the Aparaaditehas and its surroundings on the last Friday of August. We will ceremoniously open several new exhibitions, hang out in the back rooms of the factory and peek in through the usually closed doors, and enjoy some nice music.

Gallery Night vol 16 will take place as part of the Aparaaditehas Festival 2025.

Polish artist Paweł Matyszewski's exhibition „Momentary Organisms" is open, and you can also take a peek at Kogo Gallery's showroom, which features works by Estonian and Latvian artists.

The first exhibition of Kunstitutsioon (or photographer Kevin Loigu) which opens at 23:00 in his brand new studio, focuses on the streets at night, patterns off the beaten track, and former industrial areas across Estonia, which Kevin has captured over the past eight years.

Plantarium's plant shop and the bar are open, the evening will be accompanied by a DJ. The electronic music and digital art duo Tangled Waves will perform at 22:00. Liisi Toom's acrylic painting exhibition "Only Plants in the Kitchen" is also open.

Opening of the experimental test lab SÕÕR at 18:00, which focuses on biodesign and prototyping of circular solutions. Come and see how bio-based 3D printing works. De Structura AR exhibition "Unframed" will be opened from 20:00.

Visitors can explore the “Big Five 24” exhibition at the recently opened author's gallery to understand his journey of the last five years, which will culminate in the creation of a new painting series in live form.

The creative circle's group exhibition "Did They Go to the Same Place?" is waiting for visitors and photography enthusiasts! The artists as well as the instructor and the curator will be present. A tour introducing the process will take place at 19:00.

At 20:00, the painting exhibition "The Many Faces of MIA vol. 3" by former Aparaaditehas resident Mia Melanie Saar will open, consisting of the artist's self-portraits throughout the years.

The Tartu Illustration Festival will open a pop-up exhibition in the Aparaaditehas Tunnel Gallery as part of Gallery Night, ahead of the main festival.

In collaboration with TYPA's artist-in-residence Sasha Rotts' exhibition "Please Recycle", the durational performance "Embodied Packaging" by Deepdance Company will culminate at 21:00. The project explores the subtle and uneasy relationship between people and the materials we simultaneously need and reject.

Unlike your regular tour, this one won't be focusing on fresh and artsy stuff Aparaaditehas has to offer. Instead, we'll see how to make something out of nothing (for free?).
