About the Project
KolkjART Gallery is a contemporary art space scheduled to open in August 2026 in the village of Kolkja (Peipsiääre Parish, Tartu County), on the shores of Lake Peipsi. The renovated building will serve as an exhibition venue hosting international exhibitions, public art events, workshops, and curator-led tours. The gallery aims to enrich the cultural life of the region, increase its visibility and visitor numbers, and foster international collaboration and community connections between Estonia and Ukraine. The project is initiated by Ukrainian artist Viktoria Berezina.

About the Artist
Viktoria Berezina (b. 1994, Kherson, Ukraine) is an artist, curator, and cultural organizer who has been living and working in Tartu since October 2022. She is the co-founder and organizer of the art festival “Mycelium” (Ukraine 2020, 2021, Sweden 2023). In 2022, Berezina received the Kultuuri Tegu award for documenting the war and curating the joint Ukrainian-Estonian exhibition “Päästik.” Her project “Viktoria’s Letters,” created together with Tartu gallerist Raul Oreškin, was nominated for Tartu Cultural Bearer of the Year 2022.
She is also the author of the book about the war “My Kherson. Letters from Ukraine.” In 2024 she joined the Tartu Artists’ Union and founded the NGO Kultuurihorisont, which focuses on cultural development and Estonian-Ukrainian cultural dialogue. In 2025 her solo exhibition “A Face Assembled from Noise” was selected for the “Young Tartu” series of the Tartu Art Museum. She was also nominated for the AkzoNobel Art Prize 2025.
