WORKSHOP // "Stitching & Queering Together"
Workshop ‘Stitching & Queering Together’
15 November at 12.00–15.00
Kogo Gallery and showroom
In collaboration with Behemoth’s centre
The event invites the queer community to come together in a shared act of stitching. Inspired by Maria Kapajeva’s textile work Golden Becoming, created during the transformation of her own queer body, the workshop continues this idea as an open and collective process. Through embroidered words and phrases shared and stitched by participants, it grows into a fabric of many voices.
During the three-hour session, everyone will have the chance to choose or create their own sayings and embroider them together as part of a collective textile. No previous experience in stitching is required – the artist will guide and assist participants throughout the process.
All who identify with the queer community are welcome to join and contribute to this evolving collective artwork.
The snacks and drinks will be provided.
The event is a part of the public programme of Maria Kapajeva’s solo show By Losing Them, I Become a Whole. The curator of the show is Šelda Puķīte. The show will stay open until 22 November.
