TALK // Who Guards the Night? A Panel Discussion on Tartu's Nightlife

In September, the City of Tartu is adopting the Tartu Evening and Nightlife Strategy, which aims to make Tartu a considerate, caring, and safe city around the clock. How safe and caring is Tartu's nightlife today, and who is responsible for my safety at night? There are risks we accept or overlook. But to what point is that okay? Is the sense of security in our minds an illusion that is actually harming us?

On Saturday, September 12 at 19:00, a panel discussion will take place at the Krabi Joogid bar to try and find answers to these questions. Among other topics, the discussion will cover the Good Samaritan act, a sense of security, and responsibility—all in the context of Tartu's nightlife.

The panel features Andrus Reimaa (Head of the Police Station), Kristofer Robin Kütt (nightlife welfare helper), and Annabel Kuusik (nightlife service provider/cultural organizer). The discussion will be moderated by Liina Maria Lepik, CEO of the Estonian Centre for Anthropology.

The panel discussion is part of the public program for Trevor Kinna and Silver Tsäko's installation "äftekas" and the Aparaaditehas Cultural Platform.
