SASHA ROTTS: ARTIST TALK
On the 11th of June at 5:30pm we invite you to Kett Gallery to take part in Sasha Rotts' artist talk!
Sasha Rotts (b.1985) is a visual artist and art historian based in Helsinki, Finland. From April-June 2025 she is also one of TYPA's artists in residence.
She works with embroidery and textiles, painting, printmaking and artistic research. Rotts interests include memory, children creating process, traditional crafts, micro and macro history.
In her residency in Typa she works only with recycled materials - Tetra Pak plates, using them as stencils for printing. She works in collage techniques, merging together prints, painting, cut out and drawings. In her final project at Balcony gallery she will exhibit paper works together with textiles, making the parallel between them and trying to build the narrative.
In her lecture Rotts will talk about her own practice as well as working in the SASHAPASHA duo, about painting, prints and textile and why it is important to keep drawings from the kindergarten class.
NB! Artist talk will be conducted in English and is free of charge!
