This exhibition presents Olga Rodzik’s project on Ukrainian national costumes, begun at the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, when questions of identity and heritage became especially urgent. Coming from southern Ukraine, a region heavily affected by Russification, Olga realized much of her family’s cultural legacy — jewelry, embroidery, and traditions — had been lost, symbolizing the broader destruction of Ukrainian culture. Inspired by 19th–20th century folk attire, she studied the artistry and symbolism behind over 200 stitching techniques and rich regional designs. Her research culminated in 25 posters depicting traditional peasant costumes from across Ukraine.

Olga Rodzik (b. 1996, Kherson, Ukraine) is an artist and fashion illustrator based in Odesa. A graduate of Kherson National Technical University (BA and MA in clothing design, 2019), she combines folk culture, fashion, and graphic art in her work. Starting with watercolor and pencil, she later embraced digital illustration, developing a style defined by dynamic figures and vivid colors. Her focus is the human being — their movement, emotion, and connection with clothing. Olga also creates short animated stories, teaches drawing to children, and collaborates with publishers, brands, and musicians, including Vivat, Nargis Magazine, TVORCHI, and Ukrainska Pravda. She volunteers with the Help Ukraine Team.

Supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, NGO Culture Horizon, and NGO Ukraina Maja.
